The film is desperate to be edgy, but its attempts at adult humour are woefully misjudged.

3 stars out of 5 -- [Butler] has charisma in spades....Butler and Heigl sizzle nicely together in a script that steers away from cutesy in favour of potty-mouthed put-downs...

The ugly truth about this insipid romcom is that Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are entirely wasted.
London Evening Standard
Rating: 1/5 --
The screenplay is written by three females, who write women like they hate them and men like they've never met a real one.

Both Heigl and Butler find the appeal in very flawed characters. It has been said that every memorable romantic movie requires a scene where the lovers dance together, and Luketic has staged an effervescent dance for the stars.
Hollywood Reporter
Rating: 2/5 --
[It] attempts to be hip and edgy by featuring plenty of discussions about boy parts and girl parts and how they become friends with one another. However, the makers of this film clearly have no idea about how men and women actually interact.

The only surprise here is that the misogynistic screenplay was written by three females.

Product Description:
After KNOCKED UP and 27 DRESSES, Katherine Heigl continues her reign as queen of the romantic comedies with this film from director Robert Luketic. The versatile Gerard Butler of 300 and P.S. I LOVE YOU stars as an obnoxious man who gets under the skin of Heigl's TV producer character.
