"The Troublemaker" is among Willie's finest LP's. Released in 1976 following "Red Headed Stranger" ('75) and "Sound in Your Mind" ('76) and before "To Lefty From Willie" ('77), "Waylon & Willie" ('78) and "Stardust" ('78), this LP/CD didn't gather the popularity that the music deserves. Willie and his band (along with studio guests) play traditional hymns in an upbeat style similar to what you'd expect on "Live From Texas Opera House" or other '70's live recordings. I believe this suffered from licensing issues because the CD frequently went out of print. Nor did the subject matter (entirely hymns) help the LP/CD catch on with broader audiences. Essential Willie CD and a favorite for 10 - 20 years.
