Description by OLDIES.com:
Mister Lobo celebrates 20 years of hosting his show
Cinema Insomnia. In the tradition of those classic horror shows like
Chiller Theatre and
Creature Features, host Lobo appears in brief vignettes between segments of the “late late night movie.” Various and sundry wacky characters have appeared over the show's two-decade run – including houseplant sidekick Miss Mittens.
Cinema Insomnia has been seen on hundreds of local television and cable channels, and Lobo continues to be a regular guest at conventions like Wondercon and Monster Bash. He was even parodied in an episode of
Scooby-Doo. Known as an advocate for "Bad Movies", Mr. Lobo lives by the motto, "They're not bad movies...just...
misunderstood."
Your host Mr. Lobo is trying to win back his soul from old college headmaster “Dean Slithers” (voiced by Don Drakulich of GWAR.) To do this, he must explain the plot of American Werewolf in the Philippines (not to be confused with Beast of the Yellow Night, even though they're totally the same film.) Let's give it a shot: this 1971 Filipino-American co-production directed by Eddie Romero stars former teen idol and A-Team producer John Ashley as an escaped murderer who makes a deal with Satan to inhabit another man's body. In the “plus” column, he gets to sleep with that man's hot blonde wife, but in the “minus” column, he turns into a werewolf whenever he grows angry or outraged! A drive-in movie so gruesome that legendary exploitation producer Sam Sherman, who distributed Romero's previous films, refused to have anything to do with it! Plus comedy bits, retro trailers, cheesy commercials, a snack recipe for “The Feast of the Gel-O Night” and the usual slumber party fun! With Reel 7 hottie Jessie Seeherman as “Nurse Wretched” and the bra-bearing “Wolfen Mittens”, it's a howling good addition to your Mr. Lobo collection!
