Description by OLDIES.com:

A classic 1956 jukebox musical featuring performances by rock and roll singers of the 1950's, including Chuck Berry, Lavern Baker, The Moonglows, The Flamingos and performing as himself, the famed disc jockey Alan Freed alongside other rock and roll singers of the time. Teenager, Dori Graham, played by then 13-year-old Tuesday Weld can't get her father to pay for a strapless gown for her prom and has to get together the money herself in time for the big event. After much scheming and antics, Dori (Tuesday Weld) winds up getting the dress for the prom while managing to keep her boyfriend Tommy, played by actor Teddy Randazzo from being seduced by other female classmates who are vying for his affection. All turns out well with a great ending with everyone rocking out at the high school prom. This was Frankie Lymon and the Teenager's film debut, and almost every member of the cast was signed to a record label at the time. Some immortal songs perfomed in the movie include: 'Rock, Rock, Rock', 'I Never Had a Sweetheart', 'Rock and Roll Boogie', 'I Knew From the Start', 'Tra la La', 'Over and Over Again', 'We're Gonna Rock Tonight' and so many more hits of the day. The hit songs: 'I Knew From the Stars', 'You Can't Catch Me', and 'Would I be Crying' actually appear in the film. The Connie Francis songs 'I Never Had a Sweetheart' and 'Little Blue Wren' appear in the film as well, and were released by MGM Records in 1956 as a Connie Francis single. 'Baby, Baby' and 'I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent' by the Teenagers were subsequently released as a single by Gee Records. A classic teen movie with hot songs from the 50's you won't want to miss!
