Product Description:
TIMELINE is a series of DVDs that take the viewer on a trip back in time to profile one year from the middle of the 20th century using original newsreels, video chapters that focus on trends, events, and personalities, audio chapters featuring the top hits of the year and radio newscasts as well as transcripts of variety and musical shows. Here, the year profiled is 1942, a year of historical and pop culture milestones. World War II was obviously the most important issue for most of the world, and 1942 marked the year the world learned about the Nazi death camps at Auschwitz. It was also the year the US began rounding up Japanese Americans and putting them in internment camps and 150,000 British troops were captured. All the while, CASABLANCA was making history at the US box office and the world was mourning the devastation of the war.
