For seventy-odd minutes, in this scorcher from Twentieth Century-Fox, the guns blaze, fists fly and passions tangle in the best realistic Western style.

Product Description:
William Wellman deftly directed this wide-open Western packed with suspense and set in the Wild West during 1867. Gregory Peck plays Stretch, the leader of a gang of saddletramps who are robbing banks across the frontier. In their travels they come across an abandoned town strangely inhabited by only one old man and his daughter, Mike, who is played in a spirited turn by Anne Baxter. The two put a wrench in the plans of the outlaws, who were hoping to hide out in peace. As the sex-starved outlaws circle the rambunctious young woman, they also wonder if the bizarre duo could be sitting on a hidden gold mine. Richard Widmark is noteworthy as Dude, the only other outlaw bad enough to give Peck a run for his money. LaMar Trotti has fashioned a great script, based on a story by W.R. Burnett, that is similar in plot to that of Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST.
