The story is not only full of holes; it is also replete with coincidental narrative embellishments stitched on as an afterthought to keep the holes from showing too much. Full Review

Product Description:

In director Anatole Litvak's FIVE MILES TO MIDNIGHT, a sexy European woman, Lisa (Sophia Loren), marries a domineering, jealous American, Robert (Anthony Perkins), and becomes trapped in a violent marriage. Much to her relief, Robert leaves on business, only to plunge to his death in a plane crash. Even more shocking for Lisa, however, is learning her husband is, in fact, still alive and planning to collect insurance money by playing dead. The film leads the viewer down a road of deception and suspense, a journey further complicated by Lisa's friends, two journalists (Gig Young, Jean-Pierre Aumont), whom she confides in about her dastardly situation. While Loren plays her typically sensual self, Perkins is eerie and unnerving, and the film's surprise ending is supremely thrilling.
