Highly stylized and based squarely in satire, We Are Little Zombies somehow manages to be a heartfelt look at what makes a family and what it means to grieve. Full Review

A sharply observed coming-of-age satire competes with a barrage of visual gimmickry in this ambitious if highly uneven debut. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- We Are Little Zombies' exploration of the mechanics of mourning, particularly the uneasy disjunct between inner and outer emotions, is layered and sincere. Full Review

Smart, noisy and flashily assured, "We Are Little Zombies" is entirely, gleefully its own thing. Full Review

Product Description:

At a crematorium overseeing the settlement of their deceased parents' affairs, four preteens come together in the wake of their losses. Instead of mourning and becoming embroiled in grief, the kids form a punk rock band as their form of catharsis. Styling themselves in edgy outfits made from scrap materials and building instruments out of their favorite household items, the preteens begin their journey as Little Zombies, the latest band on the punk scene. Written and directed by Makoto Nagahisa, the film stars Keita Ninomiya, Mondo Okumura, Satoshi Mizuno, and Sena Nakajima.
