Seeking vengeance, Sinclair begins helping outlaw Barney Rebstock (Donalp Crisp) wreck trains. Now, Smith must find and bring his old friend to justice...at any cost, in this suspenseful adventure filled with pistol-packing action.

Luke "Whispering" Smith (Alan Ladd) becomes entangled in a choice between his duty as a railroad detective and his loyalty to his friend Murray Sinclair (Robert Preston), when Murray, who lost his job with the railroad, begins to sabotage trains!
