An occasionally ridiculous film about a man who was far from ridiculous. Full Review

[T]his valentine to jazz in all its forms stars Don Cheadle in arguably the best performance of his decades-long career, as vibrant a portrait of a difficult, passionate, committed creative artist as anyone could wish for.

[It] brings the attitude and then some. Destroying the typical boundaries of classic set design and time, it rather brilliantly suggests a subjective perspective can aesthetically break apart, divide on impact, tailspin into a deep void of depression. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- Jazz is about cadences, rhythm, and daring; everything that this dry biopic seems to lack. Full Review

Product Description:

Don Cheadle co-wrote, directed, and stars in this biopic of legendary jazz musician Miles Davis, which takes a free-form approach to its subject's life that mirrors his playing style. As the story skips around in time, it depicts Davis' attempts to get his career back on track following a period of listlessness and drug addiction in the '70s, his relationship with a journalist (Ewan McGregor) who wants to profile him, and his troubled marriage to a former dancer (Emayatzy Corinealdi). Michael Stuhlbarg co-stars.
