Product Description:
Sony Classical is proud to release the Summer Night Concert 2016 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Seymon Bychkov and featuring guest pianists, Katia and Marielle Labéque. This annual open-air event has been held since 2008 on the park grounds of the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria, and airs nationwide on PBS in August. Recorded live on May 26, 2016, the program focuses entirely on French composers covering the period between Romanticism and Neoclassicism with pieces by Georges Bizet, Hector Berlioz, Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel.
This year s Summer Night Concert was conducted by Russian maestro Seymon Bychkov whose approach to music making combines innate musicality with the rigors of Russian pedagogy. Bychkov conducts repertoire that spans four centuries and currently holds the Klemperer Chair of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music and the Günther Wand Conducting Chair with the BBC Symphony Orchestra with whom he appears annually at the BBC Proms. Bychkov is joined by internationally renowned French sibling pianists, Katia and Marielle Labéque who are renowned for their synchronicity and energy. With the UNESCO World Heritage setting of the Baroque park of Schönbrunn Palace as the backdrop, the Summer Night Concert 2016 adds stunning visuals to the superb musical program.
