Rating: 4.5/5 -- Those adults brave enough to confront the perils of animation will be treated to a wise, visually unique, emotional gem of a film that will leave you wondering how two clay figures damn near broke your heart. Full Review

Rating: 5/5 -- A film of astonishing beauty, Mary and Max is undoubtedly one of the films of the year. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- While perhaps it doesn't fully sustain its 90-odd-minute running time, Mary and Max is a moving celebration of oddness and friendship. Full Review

4 stars out of 5 -- [I]t's a platform for deliciously dark wit, beautifully crafted 'toonery and fine voice work, particularly from Philip Seymour Hoffman...

Rating: 4/5 -- Elliot is a talent eccentric enough to make Nick Park look like an office drone, and the serious sadness underpinning his vision only makes the humour work better. Full Review

Rating: 5/5 -- Up may be a really good film, but compared to Mary and Max it's an episode of Thundercats.
Little White Lies

4 stars out of 5 -- Tackling such un-animation topics as loneliness, body image, alcoholism, suicide and Asperger's syndrome, it's quirky, compassionate and slightly seedily sweet.

Product Description:

This claymation wonder made a splash at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. The surprising friendship between a young Australian girl named Mary (voiced by Toni Collette) and an aging New Yorker named Max (Philip Seymour Hoffman) lies at the heart of this sweet comedy. Though Mary and Max have never met, they communicate via letter, becoming close companions though they are separated by thousands of miles. Barry Humphries provides narration, while Eric Bana also supplies his voice.
