Entertainment Reviews:
It keeps you fascinated, even enthralled; elicits astonishment, even wonderment, and makes you grateful for the chance to meet someone remarkable.
Wall Street Journal
Brannaman became the inspiration for THE HORSE WHISPERER, perfecting a style of horsemanship that often looks like a magic act. Wisely, Meehl roots this redemption tale in carefully observed demonstrations at his clinics...
Film Comment
A not-so-simple story simply told, BUCK was directed by Cindy Meehl....Finding a great subject can be half the battle in documentary, and in Mr. Brannaman she discovered one who holds you attention and heart for a tight 88 minutes.
New York Times
[T]he film's transparent straightforwardness in both style and approach feels exactly right....It won the audience award at last year's Sundance...
Sight and Sound
The movie is shaped with the same economy, restraint, and unfussiness as the man, to unexpectedly inspiring effect. -- Grade: A-

Product Description:
This documentary tells the incredible true story of Buck Brannaman, the unusually perceptive cowboy whose remarkable ability to communicate with horses inspired both Nicholas Evans' novel THE HORSE WHISPERER and the hit Robert Redford film that followed. As a young boy, Brannaman developed a love for the cowboy lifestyle by performing lasso tricks. But one false move meant a merciless beating at the hands of his abusive father, and as a result Brannaman gradually developed the intuition to recognize when horses were in distress. In BUCK we not only learn about Brannaman's remarkable life, but also watch as he works closely with horses and their owners to encourage greater communication.
