u.s. astronaut frank saunders[who happens to be an experimental android created by scientist dr.steele]is sent up into space to record data about our universe. he is shot down by martians who want to invade earth to kidnap women to repopulate their dying world after nuclear war has rendered their women sterile.when frank crashes to earth he is hideously deformed,as one half of his face is melted away, becoming a 'frankenstein'.he ends up battling mull a huge monster of the martians,sacrificing himself to free the kidnapped women and save earth by blowing up the space ship killing himself,the monster and the aliens.in essence it shows that even an android can show true human like heroism.the music in this film is awesome, the two tracks 'thats the way its got to be'by the poets and 'to have and to hold'by the distant cousins are lost classics.in fact my favorite part of the film is the end credits where dr.steele and his girl karen ride around puerto rico on a scooter as the beautiful 'to have and to hold ' plays.i give this film the highest possible rating to fans of cult films. i am proud to have it in my library.its a steal for only 12.95.only at oldies.com.
