The attempts to turn these corny stories into some sort of epic strain with flopsweat, and the hoped-for Avengers-style team-up of the company's big two mostly results in scenes where you wonder why Frosty's not melting in the middle of July. Full Review

Overall, it's a quirky special with some of the best Animagic Rankin/Bass ever did, but it's a long 97 minutes... If you're willing to make the time for it, it's worth the view. Full Review

The idea of crossing over Rudolph and Frosty is logical, because they were the company's two most popular character (aside from maybe Santa Claus), but the way it actually happens is just nuts. Full Review

The Rankin-Bass films and holiday specials are generally quite solid, but this one-which you may also encounter around Independence Day-is a bloated, trippy affair, with a helping of holiday skeez. Full Review

Product Description:

When the evil Winterbolt learns the secret to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer's nose--it was bestowed upon him by a goddess and must be used only for acts of good--he plots to conquer the world on Christmas Eve by destroying Rudolph, Santa's guiding light. As Rudolph and Frosty travel south to work with a circus, Winterbolt puts his plan into action--first, he'll lift the spell that's protecting Frosty from melting in the southern heat, and, second, he'll cajole Rudolph into committing a crime that would disenchant the magical power of his nose and transform him into an ordinary reindeer. It's fun and thrills for Rudolph and Frosty as they team up for a joyous holiday celebration in July.

The sequel of all animated sequels, RUDOLPH AND FROSTY'S CHRISTMAS IN JULY makes reference to a number of Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass films--RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN, and FROSTY THE SNOWMAN, to name a few. This movie features some high-quality animation and a number of wonderful Irving Berlin compositions. Only imagineers Rankin and Bass could deliver such holiday cheer just in time for the 4th of July. This summertime Christmas classic features the vocal talents of stars such as Jackie Vernon, Red Buttons, Ethel Merman, Mickey Rooney, and Shelley Winters.
