Despite some early indications from the two Cusacks and Arkin that it's going to be funny, it winds up an unholy mess that becomes steadily more incoherent -- morally, dramatically, and conceptually. Full Review

...A wild at heart, anarchic comedy that believes in living dangerously....GROSSE POINTE BLANK manages to be consistently surprising...

Rating: 4/5 -- Tackling the ravages of time with a rambunctious tone, "Blank" wraps emotional entropy and existential rumination into a clever, conceptual comedy that befits the '90s brethren like "Defending Your Life" or "Groundhog Day" alongside which it stands. Full Review

As a satire, Grosse Pointe Blank doesn't completely add up-the parts are greater than the whole-but it's very much alive and kicking. Full Review

If Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) was just another comedy in the wave of 80s nostalgia, then John Cusack is the kid who grew up to be Oliver North. Full Review

Product Description:

A nihilistically philosophical hit man reluctantly accepts an assignment in Detroit, coinciding with his 10-year high school reunion in the ritzy suburb of Grosse Point, Michigan. While in town, he tries to patch things up with the girlfriend he abandoned on prom night, avoid being killed by an over-zealous competitor's henchmen, and survive his surreal homecoming. A bullet-ridden, darkly comedic tale of self-discovery from star-writer-producer Cusack. Recommended.
