Description by OLDIES.com:
Sherlock Holmes faces his most difficult challenge in A Study In Scarlet. In his one and only appearance as Holmes, veteran actor Reginald Owen gives a thoughtful and intelligent performance as England's greatest sleuth. Members of "The Scarlet Ring" are being murdered and Scotland Yard is puzzled until Holmes steps in to investigate. His adventures lead him to the beautiful Mrs. Pyke and to the final confrontation that takes place in her late husband's stately ancestral home - complete with screams in the foggy night, cloaked figures moving through secret passages, and a sinister Asian butler. A Study In Scarlet is the second film by Edwin L. Marin, who made his directorial debut with Bela Lugosi's Death Kiss. Marin would go on to direct Reginald Owen as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.
Product Description:
