Description by OLDIES.com:

Tales Of Frankenstein: A desperate woman in search of a way to resurrect her deceased husband hears of Dr. Frankenstein's experiments with corpses. She convinces Frankenstein to reanimate him by implanting the dead man's brain into his patchwork monster. Their happiness vanishes when the creature beholds his hideous reflection in a mirror, and the sight of his twisted form drives the monster to a violent frenzy of hatred and revenge.

Tales of Frankenstein was directed and conceptualized by Curt Siodmak (I Walked With A Zombie, The Wolfman, Donovan's Brain) for Hammer Pictures who intended to develop it into a television series. Featuring a unique blend of Universal's haunting vision of the monster with Hammer's flair for terror, this unsold pilot provides a horrifying and thoughtful development of the Frankenstein myth.

The Terror: Jack Nicholson plays a French soldier who is stranded on a foreign shore. Haunted by visions of a beautiful girl, he follows her to a ancient castle where the fearful Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff) reigns over a desolate land. Driven by his desire to find the ghostlike girl, the soldier descends into an inescapable spiral of horror and mystery. Roger Corman shot The Terror back-to-back with The Raven, utilizing the same sets and crew, including associate producer Francis Ford Coppola.

Superb! Movie Lover: from County Durham, England UK -- October, 9, 2004

Tales Of Frankenstein is already on DVD at quite a high price from another studio, with Alpha's DVD you also get a full bonus feature of AIP's The Terror! Two classic horror movies on one great disc, and cool cover art too!

Rare Peep Movie Lover: from Tejas -- March, 2, 2004

Do not be mislead (but note that I am not complaining) The Terror is the real feature here. It is a very good Coppola/Corman movie with what had to be a real shock/surprise ending when it was released. Tales of Frankenstien in spite of it's top billing is a 30 minute TV show (or perhaps even a pilot for a TV show). It looks to have been made around 1956. It is a simple story of yet another descendent of Baron Von trying to rekindle his work with horrifing results. This time the results are less than horrifing but it does give us a rare peep into a forgotten bit of TV history.
