3.5 stars out of 4 -- THE TROUBLE WITH THE TRUTH is a pleasant surprise that gets better as the movie unfolds....It is a very small movie with very deep feelings.
Chicago Sun-Times
Rating: 3.5/5 --
The film captures the mixture of remembered intimacy and arguments and the way these emotions can swirl around one another, one minute sparking conflict, the next an unexpected moment of joy and.. a level of empathy.

Product Description:
A divorced couple contend with a complex barrage of emotions while coming together to discuss their daughter's engagement. Robert (John Shea) is a middle-aged jazz pianist who performs in a hotel bar, and lives by his own set of rules. His ex-wife Emily (Lea Thompson) is a well-known author who has since remarried. When their daughter Jenny (Danielle Harris) reveals that she will soon be walking down the aisle, Robert begs her to reconsider. He fears that Jenny will make the same mistakes that he and Emily once made. But later, when Robert and Emily agree to discuss Jenny's future over dinner and drinks, the realization that they still have feelings for one another leads them to reflect on how and why their own marriage went so wrong.
