Tom Cameron (George Houston) is searching for the outlaws who ambushed a wagon train, murdered his parents and stole the deed to their land. Though he was only a child at the time, he still vividly remembers the scar on the ringleader's face.

Years later, Tom, who is known as "The Lone Rider," discovers a startlingly similar case of an ambush killing where stolen land is the motive. Together with his pal Fuzzy (Al St. John), he tracks down the gang and discovers the man with the scar, who is working in the most unlikely place.

A fine, economical 1941 Western, RIDER OF THE PLAINS stars the ruggedly handsome George Houston as Tom Cameron, a man seeking to avenge the violent murder of his parents. Having carried around the brutal images of the killing since he witnessed it as a young boy, Tom is mysterious man with one mission, known by strangers as "The Lone Rider." A fast-paced, well-crafted Hollywood picture, RIDER OF THE PLAINS is a good example of a no-frills studio picture done right.
