The trouble with 40 Pounds of Trouble is that it is just too hackneyed and dull.

Product Description:
Lake Tahoe casino manager Steve McCluskey (Curtis), on sabbatical from women, is forced to chaperone his boss's beautiful niece (Pleshette) who also happens to be the headlining talent at the hotel. Not wishing to anger his superior, he agrees to the arrangement as well as taking on a five-year-old (Claire Wilcox in her film debut) who has been abandoned by her father at the casino rather than pay his debts. Trouble turns into tenderness as the trio make their way to Disneyland in spite of thugs sent by McCluskey's ex-wife looking for alimony. Director Norman Jewison's first feature film.
