Rating: 2/5 -- The film is supposed to be a transformational romance going from the love of ecstasy to the ecstasy of love but the two leads can't manage it any more than the director. Full Review

Its fondness for the writer and the drug film genre may be evident; however neither can turn Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy into anything more than an inferior homage. Full Review

Rating: 1/5 -- The movie's low-level chat about uppers (boy, you wouldn't give this movie a nickel for its small talk) does little to peddle Welsh's undoubted brilliance. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/5 -- In the end, ECSTASY wants to have it both ways -- drugs are celebrated at the beginning of the film, and condemned -- or at least the crime connected with them is - by the end.

Rating: 3/4 -- Ecstasy is to ecstasy what Trainspotting was to heroin. Different times, different drugs, but the Scotland-set story of addiction and redemption is pretty much the same. Full Review

Product Description:

A bored housewife falls for a drug smuggling addict who attempts to turn his life around following one particularly harrowing experience. Based on the book by TRAINSPOTTING author Irvine Welsh, ECSTACY tells the story of Heather (Kristin Kreuk), a middle class woman who seeks genuine excitement after creaking free from her passionless marriage. When Heather meets Lloyd (Adam Sinclair), her life begins to change in ways she never thought possible. As the two lovers begin to lose themselves in a blurry haze of substance-enhanced passion, however, Heather begins to wonder if Lloyd would still love her if he were clean and sober. The answer to that question comes when Lloyd experiences a close brush with death during a deal gone awry, and quickly decides to abandon his life of crime in favor of building a brighter future with Heather.
