Description by OLDIES.com:
Cargo planes carrying shipments of gold are disappearing. No wreckage can be found and there is no communication from the pilots. Sergeant Renfrew (James Newill) of the Canadian Royal Mounted Police is ordered to patrol the air and escort the shipments. Unknown to the Sergeant, dangerous criminals are developing a deadly ray gun that disrupts electrical impulses, causing planes to lose control and fall from the sky. To increase the ray's power, the criminals hire the world's leading scientist, Professor Lewis, telling him that he'll be working on a top-secret government project. When the Professor learns the truth, the gang holds him hostage and threatens the life of his daughter.

One of eight Renfrew movies
Movie Lover: Martin Grams from
Pennsylvania -- May, 13, 2005
Laurie Erskine wrote eight novels featuring the fictional character Renfrew of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. By a strange coincidence, eight movies featuring Renfrew were also made during the late 1930s and early 1940. SKY BANIDTS was the eighth and last of these, also one of the best in the series. Strangely enough, the movie was filmed in later 1938 but was withheld from distribution until July of 1940 when it was released nationally through Monogram Studios. For anyone counting, this was the 50th movie to feature a Canadian Mountie as the lead hero. American Cinema doesn't get any more trivial.
