Ever since he was a young boy Jose Rico Rodriguez has aspired to be a top chess champion like his grandfather in Mexico. Now his dreams are coming true as he and his school team attempt to make it to the Texas state finals with the help of their wise coach, Mr. Alvarado (Efren Ramirez).
