Entertainment Reviews:
Dominik certainly leaves his mark. KILLING THEM SOFTLY is a striking film of starkly delineated personality...

Rating: 2/4 --
The craft is there, but the ideas are disappointingly simplistic, painting in broad strokes when it could have been so much more pointed using a finer brush.

Behind The Lens
It's a mesmerizing tale of kill-or-be-killed capitalist desperation. -- Grade: A
Entertainment Weekly
Rating: 1.5/4 --
Sometimes its violence is ultraheightened, disgustingly real. Other times it's so stylized as to be barely felt.

3.5 stars out of 5 -- [A] compellingly languorous genre picture that doesn't indict the American system so much as call it out for what it is.

Dominik knows his way around a breath-stopping suspense setpiece, but his ambition to do more is encouraging... -- Grade: B+

Product Description:
A professional enforcer investigates the brazen robbery of a high-stakes mob poker game in this crime thriller directed by Andrew Dominik (THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD) and adapted from a novel by George V. Higgins. Livid over the fact that three low-level thieves have crashed the entire underworld economy, the mob's top brass hires Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) to see that the bandits pay for their crime. The closer Cogan gets to his target, however, the more he finds his mission complicated by an alcoholic hit man who's well past his prime, incompetent gangsters, and the playboy host of the inauspicious game. James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn, Richard Jenkins, and Scoot McNairy co-star.
