It's a testament to the filmmakers' talent and sensitivity that Scheme Birds is never unbearable to watch, nor unduly sentimental in the way of so much liberal-minded cinema. Full Review

Product Description:

Scheme Birds is a documentary film that centers on Gemma, a Scottish teenager whose life hasn't been particularly rosy. Born in 1997, she is left to the care of her grandfather because her mother is a drug addict. Fast forward a few years, she finds herself being disowned by her grandfather after she gets pregnant by her boyfriend. With nowhere to go, she decides to take up residence in an apartment complex where violence is a common occurrence. Despite that, she strives to create a loving environment for her child to grow in. Written and directed by Ellen Fiske and Ellinor Hallin.
