Director Craig William Macneill and writer Bryce Kass provide a novel perspective on the notorious 1892 trial of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe. Chloe Sevigny stars as Lizzie, an independent-minded and cloistered young woman living under her rich's father domineering will. The arrival of a new Irish immigrant maid (Kristen Stewart) leads to her lesbian sexual awakening, and to the ultimate explosion of rage and violence.
