Description by OLDIES.com:
The fiercest battles of WWII come to life as never seen before in this stunning collection of one of the most powerful epics in history. With actual footage from all sides of the war in color, this documentary takes you behind enemy lines and to the front lines of the tumultuous campaigns of the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theatres, where soldiers, sailors and airmen fought in the most defining time in the history of the modern world.
Disc One:
- Operation Mercury, May 1941: As British, New Zealand, Australian and Greek troops withdraw from Greece to the isle of Crete, Hitler conducts the largest airborne operation to date, sending more than 5,000 of his most elite paratroopers.
- Commerce Raiders, 1940: Disguised as cargo ships, armed German commerce raiders attack merchant supply boats in Allied waters.
- Fall Of Berlin, Spring 1945: Allied bombers conduct massive air strikes on Germany in preparation for British and American ground troops marching toward Berlin from the west and Russia's Red Army attacking from the east.
- Mt. Belvedere, 1944-1945: A combined Japanese-American and Pacific Islander combat unit joins American troops in scaling Italy's Mt. Belvedere to force the surrender of the German stronghold.
