Had me near tears. Not good tears, but painful tears.

Cinema Crazed
Sleepover objectifies early teenage girls in a manner that's disagreeable and indelicate at best, cheap and vulgar at worst.

Little more than a hurried photocopy of the far superior Lindsay Lohan vehicle Mean Girls.

How many 14-year-old girls do you know who would set up a blind date with a grown-up over the Internet? (Yeah, I found this creepy too.)

Just when the big screen could use an injection of frothy, giggly girl power -- all in the name of a covert feminist message, of course -- Sleepover squanders that promise with a blah story and even bigger bummer of a take-home message.

Product Description:
After graduating from junior high, a group of four friends decide to have a SLEEPOVER to celebrate. Hannah (Mika Boreem), Farrah (Scout Taylor-Compton), and Yancy (Kalli Flyn Childress) gather at Julie's (Alexa Vega from SPY KIDS) parents' house, and eagerly discuss plans for their forthcoming first year at high school. Their excitement is soon brought to a halt, however, when a group of rival girls led by the popular Stacie (Sarah Poxton) challenges them to a scavenger hunt. The stakes are high. So high, in fact, that the winners of the hunt will take a much-coveted place in the dining hall for lunch, thereby securing their popularity at high school. Unfortunately, Julie's dad, Jay (Jeff Garlin from CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM), is under orders from her mom (Jane Lynch) not to let the kids leave the house, and so Julie asks her older brother Ren (Sam Huntington) to cover for her while she sneaks out. As the girls undertake a variety of bizarre tasks, Ren and Jay offer plenty of comedic relief, with the clueless father frequently coming perilously close to realizing where the girls are.
