This is probably the best of the Marvel direct to DVD offerings, and that's because the writers have a clear understanding of what makes Doctor Strange so entertaining.

Cinema Crazed
[I]t’s done with high-IQ wit, all but name-checking the myth of Sisyphus and the kaleidoscopic architectural origami of M.C. Escher....It’s eye candy and brain candy. -- Grade: B+
Entertainment Weekly
Its latest, the giddily enjoyable DOCTOR STRANGE, is part of Marvel’s strategy for world domination, yet it’s also so visually transfixing, so beautiful and nimble that you may even briefly forget the brand.
New York Times
One of the pleasures of DOCTOR STRANGE is the way it both wholly embraces and gently mocks the unapologetic geekiness of the enterprise.
Los Angeles Times
DOCTOR STRANGE feels fresh. It crackles with energy, moving from one plot point to the next, not wasting any moment.
RogerEbert.com
3.5 stars out of 4 -- [H]aving Cumberbatch around really raises the bar on what's possible in comic-book fantasy....DOCTOR STRANGE creates its own world.
Rolling Stone
4 stars out of 5 -- Strange’s journey along the path of enlightenment is a typically quicksilver affair: funny, thrilling, and engrossing, it sprinkles some fresh ingredients into the MCU pot to ensure this doesn’t feel like just another spandex saga.
Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- It’s an audacious display of visual artistry that manages to pack more trippy creativity into one movie than all 13 of Marvel’s previous offerings combined.
