Entertainment Reviews:
Rating: 2/4 --
Slight, solemn, borderline silly but watchable.
USA Today
...This is a modest, efficient little thriller....[Keitel] dominates this film with a powerful presence and a look of inexorable determination...
Los Angeles Times
Rating: 3/5 --
Keitel's controlled, efficient performance makes this one worth seeing.
Capital Times (Madison, WI)
Rating: 1.5/4 --
The movie plays more like an exercise in noir atmosphere and violence than like a story; the pieces are sometimes nice, but they don't fit.

Chicago Sun-Times
Rating: C --
Like other Irvin films, this noir saga (more of an urban Western) is burdened with a philosophical layer that's incongruous with the basic tale, though acting by Keitel, Dorff, and others is good.
Variety
...The movie actually feels like a Western, or maybe vintage French film noir...
USA Today
...Deliciously malevolent....[Dorff] is like a live wire....Every furious, jagged gesture of his sensational performance seems triggered by a rush of speed...
New York Times
