Product Description:
The Discovery Channel's top-rated documentary, ANATOMY OF A SHARK BITE, illustrates the beauty and horror of one of the most deadly species of shark, the bull shark. During the taping of an educational program on the animal, shark expert Dr. Erich Ritter stands in a tank filled with the creatures, insisting they won't attack as long as he stands still; he is quickly proven wrong in what would become the first ever shark bite captured on film. Dr. Ritter survived the attack, though he lost most of his left calf, and the revealing footage was used to conduct experiments that will help scientists learn more about the behavioral processes of sharks. Dr. Ritter is determined to understand why, when, and how it is that sharks attack humans, hoping to dispel the myth that these creatures are bloodthirsty man-eaters, while diminishing the already relatively small number of shark-related deaths that occur each year. With the use of carefully-reconstructed robotic sharks, and exact replicas of the jaws and razor-sharp teeth of the bull shark, the documentary demonstrates precisely what occurs during an attack, as well as exploring the ways to prevent attacks from happening.
