Product Description:
So infamous were the actions of Nazi Germany's secret state police that the word "Gestapo" has become an ubiquitous catchphrase for any form of unchecked power. Created by Hermann Göring in 1933 and assimilated into the SS under Heinrich Himmler, the Gestapo were responsible for investigating, prosecuting, imprisoning, and executing all deemed "enemies of the state" (i.e. Jews, resistance leaders, homosexuals, and other groups of "undesirables") without any oversight from the courts. Part of THE WAR ZONE series, this documentary recounts the authoritarian exploits of the Gestapo through voice-over narration, archival footage, interviews, and dramatic re-creations.
