Entertainment Reviews:
Description by OLDIES.com:
Director Victor Adamson's (aka Al James and Denver Dixon) Arizona Trails is loaded with wonderful on-location photography and features Adamson himself playing the role of Shorty. Australian native Adamson was a busy director and actor in the silent era, often starring as "Art Mix." His son was reknowned low-budget exploitation director Al Adamson.
Stars Bill Patton, Edna Aslin, Ed Carey, Tom Camden; Directed by Victor Adamson (Al James).
Bonus Material -
Hearts and Saddles (1917, B&W, Silent): A rare restored segment from the first film Tom Mix made for the Fox.
Tim McCoy TV Show (1952): Western star Tim McCoy and his good friend Chief Yowlachie demonstrate authentic Native American sign language.
Movie Lovers' Ratings & Reviews:
Based on 28 ratings.
The feature, "Arizona Trails" is fairly decent as regards the image and the sound. The story is a bit slow and creaky, as is about normal for mid-1930s westerns from the little independent studios. Runs about 46 minutes.
The Tom Mix piece runs about eight minutes and is just a jumbled mess of various scenes from a movie that was made when he still often portrayed a semi-comic "rube" character. Don't look for a coherent story or for any of Mix's later dashing persona.
The Tim McCoy program runs twelve minutes without commercials. The picture and sound are decent but, for me, the subject was boring. Chief Yowlachie tells a story in sign language and Tim translates.
