Rating: 2/4 -- As a manifesto for tolerance and a contribution to greater social and gender harmony, this is an exercise all to the good. As a film, however, it's something of a snooze. Full Review

The film feels like a throwback, but it's at least a useful introduction to the subject. Full Review

Rating: C+ -- While the lead performances are pretty amateurish, the film benefits from a terrific supporting cast. Current high school students will likely find the film relatable and enjoyable. Full Review

"Well-meaning" is about the best one can say about The Geography Club. Full Review

The idea here isn't to titillate with tawdry teen hormones, but to offer an outlet for all that mental distress young people take on while trying to find their place in the world. Full Review

While a perfect consciousness-raiser for those 16 and under, for those of you who've already started shaving regularly, this might be more of a wobbly entertainment. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- "Geography Club" almost makes up in good intentions what it lacks in technique and execution. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

"Geography Club" is a smart, fast, moving and funny account of contemporary teenagers as they discover their own sexual identities, dreams and values and not merely live out their parents' desires and ambitions.

Product Description:

A group of open-minded high-school students form a clandestine after-school support group where they can be free to discuss their sexuality in this adolescent comedy based on Brent Hartinger's bestselling young-adult novel of the same name. Although at first the idea of labeling their group the "Geography Club" seemed like the perfect cover for their frank discussions, some of the more popular paticipants are forced to choose between staying in the closet, or embracing their true sexuality after the group's true purpose becomes public knowledge. Cameron Deane Stewart, Justin Deeley, and Nikki Blonsky head up a cast also featuring Scott Bakula, Marin Hinkle, and Ana Gasteyer.
