Description by OLDIES.com:

Dionysus, dictator of Syracuse, is determined to eradicate the dissidents who are spreading the revolutionary Athenian philosophy of brotherhood and unity. He plans a public execution for Damon, who has been arrested for spreading the radical teachings. When news arrives that Damon's wife is dying, his friend, Pythias, offers his life in ransom, so that Damon can return home. The tyrant strikes a deal, and Damon is allowed to go free. If he does not return in two months, Pythias will die in his stead. Dionysus, secure in his understanding of human nature, knows that the execution of Pythias will discredit and destroy the Athenian rabble-rousers.

This well-mounted sword-and-sandal spectacle stars Guy Williams, who rocketed to international stardom in the 1957 Disney TV series, "Zorro." The son of an Italian fencing champion, Williams was a former model who enjoyed moderate screen success, hitting his stride in 1953 with appearances in The Golden Blade, The Mississippi Gambler and The Man From The Alamo. Williams would go on to star in another hit television show, playing Professor John Robertson in "Lost In Space" (1965-1968).

Product Description:

This classic Greek tale of a friendship that overcomes even death makes for an interesting sword-and-sandal saga, with Guy Williams in the role of Damon. An apt choice since Williams is himself an expert swordsman, as partially demonstrated in his role as Zorro on American television (1957-59). Pythias (Don Burnett) has been caught plotting the assassination of King Dionysis I of Syracuse (Arnoldo Foa). Before his execution, Dionysis grants Pythias leave to put his affairs in order because Damon volunteers to stand in his stead if Pythias does not come back to face the executioner. Damon's act is considered foolish. He was safe, why should Pythias come back' But the two are devotees of the Pythagorean mysteries, and their faith in brotherly love goes beyond self-interest. When Pythias does return in the allotted time, King Dionysis is impressed enough to have a change of heart.
