Description by OLDIES.com:

Railroad agent Dan Kurrie is framed for robbery by wealthy stockholder Joseph Garber, who plans to steal Dan's girl, Margaret Young. With her beloved disgraced by the theft charges, she accepts sleazy Garber's proposal of marriage. Crushed and broken-hearted, Dan flees and takes a job on a cattle ranch. Astride his trusted horse, Sand, on the wide open plains, he bides his time, waiting for a chance at redemption.

William S. Hart began as a highly acclaimed Shakespearean actor on Broadway who entertained no aspiration for movie acting prior to age 49. A major western buff, he purchased Billy The Kid's pistols and boasted friendships with both Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson. Partnering with producer Thomas Ince in 1915, Hart went on to star in and direct dozens of memorable westerns. The superior style and quality of these films is evident in the beautifully designed intercards, the magnificent location shots and the realistic costumes and sets. Sand was said to be President Woodrow Wilson's favorite Hart production and features outstanding work by cameraman Joe August.

Product Description:

Veteran star William S. Hart both produced and starred in this western about a railroad-station agent who loses his job because of a villain's machinations. The villain (G. Raymond Nye) is a major stockholder in the railroad company and covets Hart's girl (Mary Thurman). Working as a ranch hand, Hart discovers that his enemy is actually the leader of a gang of train robbers. According to its publicity, SAND was President Woodrow Wilson's favorite Hart western.
