The film certainly leaves room for opinion, but aims to give a more compassionate view of Harding, almost aiding in a kind of redemption.

Enthuse
Rating: 3/4 --
By peering beneath the seedy supermarket tabloid veneer of its story, it manages to find a disarming humanity that goes much deeper than the sensational headlines ever suggested.

Boulder Weekly
With I, TONYA Robbie is handed a plum role, filled with superficial, actor-friendly trappings and of course a fascinating and complex personality and character arc -- and she gives the best performance of her career.
Chicago Sun-Times
I, TONYA issues a sharp, acerbic corrective, as well as a sympathetic plea for the fundamental humanity and decency of its much-battered heroine.
Los Angeles Times
A fascinating subject that resurrects one of the most deliciously strange stories of sport in the USA. [Full Review in Spanish]

Product Description:
This biopic uses the format of a faux documentary to trace the rise and scandal-fueled fall of figure skater Tonya Harding (Margot Robbie). Pushed into skating by her domineering mother (Allison Janney), Harding finds great success, yet ends up clashing with the sport's desire to mold its female athletes into an image of wholesomeness. Later, her career comes crashing down when her ex-husband (Sebastian Stan) orchestrates an attack on rival skater Nancy Kerrigan. Directed by Craig Gillespie (LARS AND THE REAL GIRL).
