Description by OLDIES.com:

The fabulously wealthy Baron Arady discovers that his village rests on rich oil deposits and tricks most of the peasants into selling out. When a few stubborn Jews refuse to move, the Baron has them arrested and charged with the murder of a village girl. The Baron bribes officials, witnesses, and police while the innocent Jews seemed doomed to die on the gallows. But their brilliant attorney Karl Nemesch battles to prove in a court of law the vicious anti-Semitic lies perpetrated by the Baron.

The Woman in Brown (aka The Vicious Circle) is the finest of director W. Lee Wilder (Billy's brother) early works largely due to a riveting performance by Conrad Nagel as the courageous defense attorney. Lyle Talbot in a heavy role as the corrupt attorney and Reinhold Schunzel as the Baron lead a powerful supporting cast which includes Frank Ferguson, Edwin Maxwell, Ben Welden and Peter Brocco.
