Description by OLDIES.com:
Brothers Tim and Jack Strong are Texas Rangers in pursuit of notorious Blackie Miller and his outlaw gang. Miller's gunmen knock over a bank and Tim is horrified to catch Jack red-handed with the stolen money. To give Jack a last chance at redemption, Tim takes his brother's place, pleads guilty and serves time in prison. Upon his release, he is disgusted to find his brother is still working for Miller. When the outlaws murder Jack, Tim rides off in a storm of vengeance, determined to bring the killers to justice or kingdom come.
Tim McCoy was a superstar of cowboy films In the 1920s and 1930s, appearing in scores of early Westerns for MGM and smaller studios. He was an expert horseman, roper and a sharpshooter, renowned for his fast draw. After serving as an officer in World War II he returned to Hollywood to star in The Rough Riders film series with Buck Jones and Raymond Hatton. In this Concord Pictures production Code of the Rangers, Tim gets strong supporting performances from Rex Lease and Wheeler Oakman.
Product Description:
CODE OF THE RANGERS was one of four Monogram westerns of the 1937-38 season starring the venerable Tim McCoy. In this one, Texas Ranger Tim Strong (McCoy) tries his best to straigthen out his hotheaded brother Jack (Rex Lease). Things don't work out, and before long Tim is protecting Jack from a bank-robbery charge. Taking the blame for the theft, our hero is exonerated only by a last-minute confession from his wayward sibling. There's lots of fisticuffs and gunplay in CODE OF THE RANGERS, enabling viewers to forget the film's threadbare production values and banal plotline.
