Man of the Year

The late great John Ritter stars in this relationship drama as Bill, the guest of honor at a party given for "The Man of the Year." Best known for his role as Jack Tripper opposite Suzanne Somers in the 1970s sitcom THREE'S COMPANY, Ritter went on to act in several films and even star in the sitcom 8 SIMPLE RULES before his unexpected death in 2003. In this film, Ritter shows his serious side, playing a successful businessman whose life is filled with several not-so-funny secrets. It seems fitting therefore, that the party is thrown at the luxurious home of Bill's best friend, in Hollywood, a place preoccupied with appearances. But as guests of the party soon realize, things are not always what they seem. Those expecting a relaxing evening are in for a shock as Bill's secret life becomes exposed. Hardly the man everyone thinks he is, Bill is forced to take a second look at himself and the person he's become. Going home at the end of the night with more than mere goodie bags, the party's attendees leave with the knowledge that nothing will ever be the same again. Shot entirely in digital video, and utilizing the improvisational skills of its actors, MAN OF THE YEAR has many aesthetic and thematic similarities to 2001's THE ANNIVERSARY PARTY.
