Description by OLDIES.com:
Beautiful Mary Logan, although innocent, is less than an hour from her execution after all attempts at reprieve have failed. A leading criminologist, Charles Finch, has been investigating the case and is convinced that Mary has been framed. Finch works desperately to find the missing piece of evidence, before the executioner can throw the switch.
This stylish PRC production has a nice film noir touch and features strong performances from Lionel Atwill and Jean Parker. Beautiful Jean Parker appeared in 70 films between 1932 and 1965 including The Flying Deuces (1939) with Laurel and Hardy and Frank Capra's Lady For A Day (1933), but is best remembered for her role as Beth in the original production of Little Women (1933). Hungarian born director Steve Sekely is best known for the cult sci-fi classic The Day Of The Triffids (1962).
Product Description:
Containing many elements of the film-noir style, this 1944 horror/suspense movie stars Jean Parker as a woman wrongfully accused of murdering a man who was blackmailing her family. In a very strange coincidence, the man in charge of Mary's (Parker) looming death sentence is also her fiancé. Lionel Atwill appears as the criminologist intent on finding the true murderer before the innocent girl's life is put to a tragic end.
