Product Description:
In this Victorian-era Merchant/Ivory adaptation of an H.E. Bates' novel, a young woman searching for the lover who abandoned her collapses and gives birth to a stillborn child. Taken in by a local farmer with three grown sons, each of whom courts her, she eventually marries the youngest, but their lives turn tragic when her former lover returns.
