Rating: 2.5/4 -- The screenplay is so scrupulous, so fair, so enlightened and so intelligent that real people have trouble shouldering it aside so that they can share messy human emotions. Nothing is ever quite this neat. Full Review

Pakula's I'm-Okay-You're-Okay optimism sure beats the cynicism of much of what passes for romantic comedy. Full Review

See You in the Morning is funny sad. What could be sadder than a bereaved child clinging to his late father's house? Full Review

Rating: 5/10 -- It might have been nice to actually have some kind of emotional response to it, in addition to just nodding and thinking, "ah yes, this seems to be properly observed." Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

After his first marriage breaks up, New York psychiatrist Larry Livingston (Jeff Bridges) is about to try something even scarier: marriage #2. Alan J. Pakula wrote as well as directed this engaging slice of modern romance, using his own remarriage as an inspiration. Larry's second marriage carries lots of baggage from the past. He's still vulnerable to his ex (Farrah Fawcett), his new wife (Alice Krige) is temporarily overseas and all hell breaks loose at home. Yearning for attention, his stepdaughter (Drew Barrymore) has been jailed for shoplifting and his stepson (Lukas Haas), grieving for his deceased dad, has disappeared. From the tangles and confusions divorce and remarriage can cause - and from a wonderful ensemble of actors, Pakula creates a moving celebration of love - and family - the second time around.

Product Description:

SEE YOU IN THE MORNING is a sensitive drama that deals with the problems of new marital partnerships and the pressures put on children in these circumstances. Semi-autobiographical, based loosely on director Alan J. Pakula's private life, the film stars Jeff Bridges (TUCKER) and widow Alice Krige (Beth Goodwin) as his second wife. The children from both previous marriages are unhappy with their parents' new relationships, and both adults have to deal with their own pasts in order to move on. The cast includes Macaulay Culkin (HOME ALONE), Farrah Fawcett (CHARLIE'S ANGELS, EXTREMITIES) and Lukas Haas (WITNESS), who give earnest performances.
