EARTH TO ECHO reaches for the stars with its gentle sci-fi shenanigans.
Variety
Jun 6, 2014
Rating: C- -- The mildewed found-footage technique allows some tension to build from offscreen action, but also renders the knockoff John Williams score inexplicable. Full Review

3 stars out of 4 -- Believable as best buddies, Teo Halm as Alex and Reese Hartwig as Munch give equally credible, naturalistic performances.
USA Today
Jul 2, 2015
Rating: 2/5 -- It's all well and good to say that the actors are relatively new to the field, but when the film rests entirely on their shoulders, it's simply not enough for their acting and camaraderie to be at best passable. Full Review

The film's strongest point, however, are the engaging performances from the young cast of relative unknowns. Full Review

Rating: 1/4 -- If the movie is a waste, at least it's an instructive one, signaling just how offensive children's entertainment might become in the YouTube era. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- You can imagine ET phoning his legal team, but although this kids' sci-fi adventure is derivative, its characters are drawn with more care and insight than you'd expect. Full Review

Product Description:

A group of young friends come to the aid of a mysterious visitor from a distant planet in this kid-friendly sci-fi adventure in the tradition of E.T. and THE GOONIES. Shortly after a massive construction project begins driving out the residents of their serene Nevada neighborhood, best friends Tuck (Astro), Munch (Reese Hartwig), and Alex (Teo Halm) notice that their mobile phones are being flooded with a series of enigmatic, encoded messages. Determined to discover the source of the code as their families, too, pack up and prepare to go their separate ways, the trio venture out into the desert and find a diminutive alien they nickname "Echo," who needs their help to get back to his ship. Although their quest is complicated by a group of sinister construction workers on a mission to reach the ailing extraterrestrial first, Tuck, Munch, and Alex soon receive some unexpected help from their classmate Emma (Ella Linnea Wahlestedt). Together with Emma, these three friends might just have a shot at getting Echo back to the stars before he's captured and imprisoned by the shadowy figures who are closing in fast.
