As a staple of the CBS Sunday night line-up for a very short time in the early 1960s, the one-season musical variety series THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW endured a number of radical format changes in a consistent (and unsuccessful) attempt to find some footing. Its best-received format, however, was probably the first: a five-episode run commandeered by producer George Schlatter, that featured mammoth, elaborate and very glossy production numbers headlined by Judy and guest stars. The two complete episodes in this set originally appeared in that run: Season One, Episode 3 (10/13/63) features guest star Lena Horne, while Season One, Episode 5 (12/15/63) features Tony Bennett. Comedians Jerry Van Dyke, Dick Shawn and Terry-Thomas also appear.
