...Frank Sinatra's confident and amusing performance as singer and actor makes the picture worth seeing. The music, by Rodgers & Hart, is also beguiling.

Due to restrictions of the Production Code, George Sidney's musical of John O'Hara's outre 1940 stage show is compromised, but there some good songs and visual pleasure in watchning Columbia's stars Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak (though they're dubbed).

In Pal Joey, Rita Hayworth makes an indelible impression as a screen siren, as sexy as in her '40s heyday, winning the audience's favor.

Description by OLDIES.com:
Based on the hit Rodgers and Hart musical of the same name, PAL JOEY follows Joey Evans (Frank Sinatra, From Here to Eternity), a charming nightclub singer who is very popular with the chorus girls in his show. Joey has a comfortable relationship with Vera (Rita Hayworth, Gilda), a former dancer who is now a rich widow. But when Linda (Kim Novak, Vertigo) enters his life, Joey suddenly has to choose between convenience and something far more substantial. Newly remastered.
