Hollywood Reporter
Rating: 3/5 --
Looking at the women looking at Charles Manson, "Charlie Says" is a frustrating watch that never really reveals why they did what they did. Murray and Wever are terrific though, and Harron nails that end-of-decade twisting of idealism and optimism.

Caution Spoilers
Charlie Says, for all of its noble intentions, has the spirit and nods towards similar territory as Helter Skelter or The Manson Family but, whether due to restraint, interference or whatever, just never quite gets there.

Flickering Myth
Harron does a good job of conveying both the late-’60s period and the surreal surroundings of the Spahn Ranch where Manson and his followers made their home.

New York Times

The Wee Review
Product Description:
A prison educator (Matt Smith) resolves to help three of notorious cult leader Charles Manson's female followers (Hannah Murray, Sosie Bacon, and Marianne Rendón) achieve clarity after spending years under his abusive and criminal influence. With a series of uncomfortable flashbacks inspired by authentic testimonies, director Mary Harron offers a fresh perspective on Manson's crimes, particularly in light of ""Manson Girl"" Leslie van Houten's 2019 parole. Written by Guinevere Turner.
