Way Too Indie
[The performances] are largely on song, with Streep digging to find pain in the pantomime, Blunt licking her comic chops and Chris Pine attacking his puffed-up Prince with appropriate gusto...

Story structure is well defined...Tonal shift is beautifully executed not only due to [James] Lapine's script, but the work of cinematographer Dion Beebe and editor Wyatt Smith who seamlessly transition lighting and lensing.

Behind The Lens
Into the Woods is very good, engaging as it runs and admirable afterwards, but it somehow misses being brilliant. Perhaps this is congruent with its message about the hidden cost of fairytales, which makes sense.

3 stars out of 4 -- Some of the best musical moments come when the characters are singing on their own, yet as part of a larger number....Marshall is an old pro, and he makes these numbers work.

Product Description:
Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods is adapted in this musical from director Rob Marshall and Walt Disney Studios. Inspired by a choice selection of Brothers Grimm fairy tales, this plot centers on a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who incur the wrath of a witch (Meryl Streep) while attempting to start a family.
