George Sluizer's surreal fable has the entire Iberian peninsula detaching from Europe and floating off towards disaster, as five strangers try to get their bearings and make their way through a newly chaotic and supernatural world. The deft script (based on José Saramago's remarkable book) combines satire, black comedy, romance, and allegory, all brought to life by a sterling Latin cast that includes Gabino Diego, Iciar Bollain, and Federico Luppi.
